Worth knowing as a door-to-door collector

It’s easy to collect donations for Save the Children. Watch the video here (it is in danish):

Below the video, we’ve gathered answers to all the most frequently asked questions about Save the Children’s national collection. Enjoy!

BEFORE YOU START COLLECTING

You are allowed to collect donations on Sunday, September 6th, 2026, between 10.00 AM and 06.00 PM. A route typically takes about 3 hours.

The collection is completely cashless.

This means you only receive donations via MobilePay, SMS, or possibly bank transfer.

You don’t need to pick up or return a collection tin – simply show the donation sign with the QR code when you go out to collect.

Watch the video at the top of this page to see how cashless collecting works.

The collection is cashless because, all in all, it results in more money going to help children in need.

Here you can watch a video, explaining why Save the Children has a cashless collection. The video is in danish.

In August, you will receive an envelope in the mail containing your donation sign, a printout of your route, and other collection materials. These will be sent to the address you provided during registration.

If you sign up after Tuesday, September 2, we unfortunately won’t be able to send the materials by post in time. Instead, you will receive an email with a link to download and print your donation sign and route map yourself.

While you’re out collecting, you’ll receive SMS messages with a link to your personal results page, so you can easily keep track of how much you’ve raised.

We’ll also send you an email after the collection ends with a link to your individual results.

You can also watch the video at the top of this page for a simple explanation. The video is in Danish but includes helpful graphics.

The collection is cashless because it raises more money for aid work for children.

This is because:

  • More than 90% of Danes use MobilePay today, and there is less cash in circulation. Experience from the past three years of cashless collections shows that cashless collectors raise more money per person.

  • Collectors don’t have to spend time handing in cash after the collection — so more collectors can complete their entire or longer routes, raising more money.

  • It’s easier for families with young children to collect when they don’t have to deliver cash afterward. Also, it’s natural for children and young people not to use cash.

  • People at the door typically give larger amounts via MobilePay than they would in cash.

  • Save the Children reduces administrative costs by not having to handle, count, and process cash, especially since banks are increasingly refusing to accept cash deposits.

  • The approximately 800 volunteers who would otherwise be needed nationwide to receive filled collection tins locally can now collect donations instead, which naturally increases the total revenue.

So, although you may sometimes have to politely say “no thank you” to cash, the cashless collection overall means more money for Save the Children’s aid work. Watch the video

Yes, absolutely!

Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Children and young people between the ages of 11 and 18 must collect in pairs.

Yes! If two of you would like to collect together, you have two options when signing up:

  • Choose one route and register just one of you. At the bottom of the registration form, you can request two donation signs if needed. Then you simply walk the route together.

  • If you have time for more, you can add a second route — either walk both routes together or split up along the way.

Please note:

When you sign up for a route as a collector, an online fundraising page is automatically created for you. What you raise online will count toward your total on the day. This way, friends and family who don’t live on your route can still support your efforts.

You can also share your online fundraising page in case you’re unable to walk your route after registering — just remember to let us know so we can cancel your route.

Not able to take a physical route but still want to help?

You can create your own personal online fundraiser on Save the Children´s website. Then share it with friends, colleagues, and family via email and social media.

Here you will find tips on how to succeed with your online fundraising.

Can’t join on Sunday? You can still take part by collecting donations online instead.

Simply create your own personal digital fundraiser — either on Save the Children´s website or on Save the children´s Facebook-page. Then share your online fundraiser with friends, colleagues, and family via email and social media, instead of walking a route.

Every digital step makes a difference!

  • MobilePay: 64061 – Use the QR code on the donation sign
  • SMS: Text RED to 1272 to donate 100 DKK
  • SMS: Text RED25 to 1272 to donate 25 DKK
  • Bank transfer: Reg. 5078 – Account 5555553
  • With card: Donate online at redbarnet.dk

If you registered after 11:59 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2024, we won’t be able to send your donation sign and route printout by mail. However, you can print them yourself.

If you registered before August 27, 2024, your donation sign and a printout of your route will be sent to you by mail as soon as possible.

If there has been an error and you haven’t received an envelope from us, don’t worry! You can still collect donations since the collection is cashless.
