Anthology about digital abuse

Save the Children has published a book entitled Is it really that bad? An anthology of online sexual abuse of children and young people.

The book explains how sexual abuse typically occurs on the Internet and the consequences it has for children and young people. The nine chapters in the book present the most recent knowledge in an area that is in constant development; an area filled with professional challenges.

The book has been published with financial support from the Council of the Danish Victims Fund (Rådet for Offerfonden). The printed version is sold out, but it can be downloaded.

Images in the Grey Area

A particular genre of images featuring scantily clad children is aimed at satisfying adult’s sexual fantasies and bought and sold on the Internet on a daily basis. While the children in these images have indeed been violated, these images are not illegal.

In a report entitled ‘Images in the Grey Area’, Save the Children has investigated the black market for so-called posed erotic images of children. We recommend changes to legislation so that it protects the children better.
