Everyday images of children in sexualizing contexts in 2020
Using everyday images of children in sexualizing contexts is a serious violation. The report shows how, in the work to protect children from sexual abuse, we identify trends and mechanisms that point to increased attention and a lack of protection as well as the need for more concrete measures.

Anthology of digital abuse
The report explains how sexual abuse takes place on the Internet and the consequences it has for children and young people. Consisting of nine chapters, the book provides the latest knowledge in a constantly developing field full of professional challenges.

Gray-zone images
A special type of images of scantily clad children, intended to satisfy the sexual fantasies of adults, is bought, sold, and shared on the Internet every day. While these images are not illegal, the children featured in them are being violated. In the report, Save the Children examines the large market for so-called erotically posed images of children and recommends new legislation to better protect children. Young people’s digital well-being (survey)
Figures from Save the Children and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health show that many young people receive abusive messages online. Most young people are good at being careful, but things go very wrong for some.

Booklet on the sexual abuse of children and young people
We have produced four booklets for professionals on how to handle suspicions or knowledge of the sexual abuse of children and young people. The first three provide a broad introduction to what sexual abuse is and focus on how to behave when suspicions lead to a concrete case. The fourth booklet is about the production and dissemination of images and videos involving child abuse, as well as what is being done and can be done to combat the illegal images.

There are three reasons why it is illegal to view, store, and transmit child sexual abuse material. First, the children are exposed to a sexual crime when the pictures or videos are taken. Second, the children are again exposed to abuse every time the images are shown, because they are displayed as sexual objects. Third, the dissemination of the material contributes to the demand for more images, thereby encouraging new assaults on children.
