"State of the World's Mothers 2009 - Investing in the Early Years." The report shows which countries are succeeding - and which are failing - to save the lives of mothers and children.

Nearly 9 million children die every year before the age of five – that is nearly one child every three seconds. This report is published to coincide with the launch of our global campaign on newborn and child survival. Our objective for this campaign is clear: to help get the world on track to achieve MDG 4 by bringing about a substantial reduction in the preventable deaths of young children.

Et af nøgleordene for Red Barnets arbejde i 2006 er mangfoldighed. Udsatte børn i Nuuk fik et værested. Asylbørn kom i skovskole. Børnehavebørn, forældre og pædagoger fik redskaber til at forebygge mobning. Børn berørt af krig og katastrofer kom i skole og fik bedre undervisning. Hiv/aids-smittede børn fik medicinbehandling og skolegang.
